Maroubra Bodyboarders Presso

Maroubra bodyboarders finally wrapped up for another year about 3 weeks ago now, i know, took my time, but have been flat out getting waves. The Trophys this year turned out so nice. Managed to score one myself for all the random things i did this year.

Congratulations to Scott Barry, who took out the Under18's narrowly beating Marty Rowney to the top spot. Both these two have been pushing it lately, Rowney taking on a monster session out one of the reefs, and Scott holding his own out at an awesome Suck Rock session last weekend. Still kicking myself no-one was filming.

Also big congrats to Adam Souter, Taking out the Open Men's. It was a close win, coming down to a few points, but Adam just had the more consistent results. Adam has been killing it lately, been collecting a lot of footage of Adam so expect an Adam Souter clip in the not too distant future.

Ian Teather the dropkneeing spiderman took out the DropKnee, no contention, Ian is really one of the best dropkneer i've ever had the pleasure of surfing with. No offence Anthony, you kill it too, but i dont know how ian can pull out those explosive snaps out of 1ft nothing. Adam took out 2nd place and Dilan and Anthony took out 3rd and 4th.

Big thanks to all those that put in the effort to make it all happen. Dilan really can put on a decent shin-dig. Brad, Blinks and Ben really went all out and made it happen beyond anybody's expectations. Top stuff guys thanks.

Injuries

Injuries oh how they suck. One minute your having an awesome solo session at a fun reef, next your scrambling to get in with a limb leg and a good 1/2 to hour hike back to your car(normally 10min walk), leaving behind a blood trail looking like some slaughter films set.


This was me today. oh why oh why, i jinxed myself. When your on a solo session its all mental fun and games. While i was out in the water i came up with the stupid notion that if i hurt myself i would probly b a goner, and you know what happened next kids. BANG! straight into the reef and a scramble to get out.
Now my leg is hurting like hell, swollen like a ballon and i've got my wonderful girlfriend telling me i've probably fractured it.

So today ill fill you in on what my afternoon or injury time has consisted of.

Scrubs season 9

Now i am a huge fan of scrubs. Zac Braff you are a champion. but really season 8's ending was one of the best tv moments of late, i nearly shed a tear. So why on earth would they want to start it up! Gosh, and they get rid of elliot! come on. JD is now just a boring whining girl. Over it! Im only 3 episodes in and they need to pull out something big if im gonna keep watching.

Mini Ninja's (Xbox 360)

Ok I'm hooked, this game is just so childish and fun that i'm addicted and can't give it up. Finished a boss today who's power was farting. He would let out these deathly farts and you had to dodge them. Like i said, childish but really entertaining.

LeBoogie

And finally this nugget of awesomeness turned up in the mail box yesterday. Ok now i know its a few days late, but Phil really my hat goes off to you, dude pure gold. Loving the mag! Movement and riptide really need to lift up their game as the new king of bodyboarding mags is definately LeBoogie.

One final thought is this image has been plaguing me for a few weeks now. It was taken back in November and looks just perfect. Its just one of those shots that u can mind surf, picture tucking into the barrel and letting loose on that lip and punching it skywards. Ahhhhhhh!

Technical Difficulties

Sorry for the lack of updates, but since the last update we had a nice little electircal storm which fried the computer i used to update the blog. Managed to take some video before the storm hit, getting uploaded now.
Not to worry, i've worked the majic and now have my macbook (which is full of interesting photos) up and running so a few updates with some older pix should start flowing fairly soon.
Another video is finished, and once the 4-6hr upload time to vimeo is complete ill put the link up for all to enjoy.

2009 Maroubra Bodyboarders is done and dusted

I know its been a while and i havent posted anything, but well there hasn't been any surf to take pix of, and when there was a small wave i got out at suck rock and bruised some ribs on an unexpected surf with adz.

What a terrible end to an otherwise top year of surf comps. After the last comp was called off for reasons that most people still don't understand (myself included). The final comp went ahead with a mushy 2ft mess. onshore winds howled all day and made the competition more about being able to get a ridable wave than a competition. Still gotta give it to the boys, there were a few decent lookin waves caught and a few reverses rolls and foward's pulled off. Unfortunately didnt really manage to get any shots worth posting up, so instead gonna post some quick sequence from the Thursday before of Anthony V pulling out a roll at a local.

Saturday 17th October

There was a slight rise in waves on saturday. Managed to get a few decent shots of a local reef. Taking some time out of the water at the moment to let this insane blister heal up. There were a few boys out, Muppet, Adzy, Jack and Ambrose getting a few really nice waves. Even though it may have been closing out a little.

There is a place, a wondrous place that breaks once maybe twice a year. It has been a long wait, a long year, a longgg winter of small swell. But today that changed, this once safe to swim little alcove came alive. Even the gale force southerly that made most places on unrideable couldn’t stop it.  Most people know it but never speak its name. These are the pictures.

Saturdays Contest Cancelled

Saturdays contest was cancelled due to bad weather.

Should be swell this week, fingers crossed for some video and pix.

Mr Carestia is now officially in Argentina.

Monday session was a solo mission out Kiama Wedge, waves weren't the exactly the best conditions, and the public holiday crowd was thick, but still managed to get wet and thats all that really matters.
